Mary Stasio

Subspecialty: Cross-Cultural and Global Health

Mary grew up in Northern Virginia, in the busy suburbs of Washington D.C. She received a BSN and BA in Sociology from the George Mason University. During her undergrad studies she spent a month in Cuba looking at the public health system there, and traveled to Guatemala and Honduras to learn Spanish and work in a hospital/long term care facility. She has had hospital medical/surgical nursing experiences and experiences with underserved populations in the community. She traveled with Doctors Without Borders to Southern Sudan and worked in a small village with a group of Dinka refugees returning from refugee camps in Darfur and in other surrounding countries. She also volunteered with the Red Cross in a shelter in Louisiana in the Hurricane Katrina aftermath.

Mary completed a concurrent degree MN in CHN/MPH in Global Health in Fall, 2012.
