Perinatal Mental Health Student Updates

Students in the PMH sub-specialty of the PMHNP program should check this newsfeed often for important information.

The following is a message from Susan Spieker at IMH program:

At the second IMH Summit on Saturday, May, 5, we learned about an opportunity for the infant, early childhood, and perinatal mental health community to influence the content of the managed care mental health waiver in Washington State.  The waiver specifies who qualifies for what reimbursable mental health services. Below are links for you to review information and the draft waiver:

The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), Aging and Disability Services Administration (ADSA), intends to submit a request to renew the current managed care mental health waiver, known as the Washington State Integrated Community Mental Health Program. More information and links to documents to review are available here.   The deadline for public comments is May 22, 2012.

Here is the link direct to the draft waiver:

Administrators and practitioners with Medicaid agency experience need to read through the draft to identify sections that can be adjusted to meet the needs of their client population.

Please read the waiver and comment on the current definition of 'severe emotional abnormality in the child's overall functioning" which needs some help for infants in particular.
