May has been a big month for School of Nursing students, who were honored with scholarships and awards at several local events earlier this month.
Mary Mahoney Professional Nurses Organization- May 5, 2012
Mary Mahoney Professional Nursing Organization honored three School of Nursing students with scholarships: Awet Abbera, BSN student; Mustapha Hydara, PhD student, and Marie-Anne Sanon, who plans to complete her PhD in June. The May 5th Scholarship Reception also honored students from North Seattle Community College, University of Washington Tacoma, Shoreline Community College and Seattle University. King County Nurses Association (KCNA) Annual Meeting and Spring Banquet- May 10, 2012
KCNA honored six UW School of Nursing students with Scholarship Awards at its annual meeting and spring banquet at the Shilshole Bay Beach Club. Pamella Guntrum, DNP student and Chao-Yin Li, PhD student we recipients of the Valerie Weiss Memorial Scolorship, honoring a nurses professional commitment. Amina Adhami, ABSN student, Christopher Diangco, ABSN student; Elmira Jangi, BSN student and Charisse Timbol, BSN student all received Basic Scholarships, intended for students pursuing initial licensure as RNs. The UW SoN represented half of all scholarship recipients at the KCNA event. Learn more about KCNA here.
UW Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity Educational Opportunity Program Celebration, Fete and Honors- May 10, 2012
This event featured the outstanding achievements, inspiring stories, and academic success of UW EOP students. EOP awards are presented to students who have made impressive contributions to our campus and community, while achieving academic excellence. 2012 Scholarship recipients included Joshua Buenavista and Charisse Timbol, both BSN students. The de Tornyay Center for Healthy Aging also recently announced the 2012-13 Healthy Aging Scholarship recipients. Scholarships included: HEALTHY AGING DOCTORAL RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIPS that went to PhD students Jane Chung and Musetta Fu. The healthy aging undergraduate research scholarship went to BSN student Kelly Ridge.
