DNP Student receives scholarship for pain research

SEATTLE- Lorena (Lori) Jaimes, BSN, RN, and Adult Nurse Practitioner student in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program, is one of the recipients of a $5,000 scholarship for pain research. One of the 2011-12 Nurse Practitioner Healthcare Foundation (NPHF) and Purdue Pharma Pain Management Award recipients, she currently works at the Seattle VA in the Inpatient Spinal Cord Injury and Rehabilitation Unit as a nurse.

The award is designed to further education and research in the area of pain management. The award is given to practicing nurse practitioners and graduate nurse practitioner students whose research or educational projects are related to pain management. Ms. Jaimes’s work is focused on improving pain management in members of the military and veterans with a combat-related traumatic brain injury.
