Sally completed her Nurse-Midwifery training in 1980, and her Master of Science in Nursing from St. Louis University in 1982. Since then she has continued to attend births at home, hospital, and birth center settings. These delivery sites include Swedish Ballard and Group Health Central Hospitals, UW Medical Center and Community Birth and Family Center.
Sally has been a clinical preceptor for licensed midwives at Seattle Midwifery School as well as for the UW School of Nursing since her practice began. Sally actively assisted in the establishment/development of the UW Nurse-Midwifery Program in 1993 and has become its longest standing faculty member!
She is a leader/pioneer in the nurse-midwifery community in Western Washington, serving on numerous committees and boards for related national and regional midwifery organizations, including her tenure as local Chapter Chair for the American College of Nurse-Midwives. She has recently become involved in breast cancer survivor activities. She is married and is the mother of three busy children and is often accompanied on campus by a Guide Dog puppy her family is fostering.
